Visibility was about 40 feet here again today (Oct. 31, 2010). This time I timed slack according to the Race Passage current table, which seemed to work fairly well. As soon as I put my face in the water, I saw a salmon swimming around in the kelp. In over 13 years of diving, this is the first one I've seen. It wasn't much bigger than 1 foot long. It didn't seem to be afraid at all. It swam right up to my mask and camera a few times.
