After checking the current atlas and noticing there was no current here for a few hours, I tried again on June 1, 2007. There were lots of tiny white bits in the water that scattered the sunlight, making for some pretty nasty visibility (only around 6 feet). I also realised, once again, that the current atlas has a sense of humor. The current wasn't too strong to swim against, but almost. I found the "good area" with all the colourful invertebrate life again. Visibility here was a bit better (10 feet). Most of the rock on the rest of the dive, from the surface to 40-50 feet deep was covered with various kinds of kelp, making it difficult to see much. I spent the last half of the dive in a shallow kelp bed, sheltered from the current. Visibility here was a bit better again (10 feet). There were some perch, juvenile rockfish and kelp crabs raining down on me from the canopy above.
