I tried going in at the end of the trail and swimming back underwater to the popular entry-point. It took me about 45 minutes at an average depth of 60-80 feet. I visited the wolfeel and saw a bunch of sunflower stars fighting to get into an occupied octopus den. Visibility was 50-100 feet. Not bad for a gloomy, rainy day. Even snorkeling on the surface, I could see 20-30 feet down.
