I was going to try somewhere new today (Aug. 9, 2009), but I wanted guaranteed cloud sponges so I came here after a dive at nearby Sheppard Point. Visibility was 20-30 feet in the shallows and about 40-50 feet below 30 feet deep. I saw the wolfeel in it's den under the flat rock. I remember it being 70 feet deep or so, but this time it was only 55 feet deep. The ice caps must have stopped melting. I swam down to the right (when facing away from shore) to have a look at the sponges. They were still there and there seem to be lots of tiny ones starting to grow. There were also lots of rockfish (quillback, yellowtail and a juvenile yelloweye) around the sponges. Because of my previous dive, I couldn't stay down here long. Above the sponges, perched along two peaks of rock, there was some kind of metal gangway that looks like it came from a dock. I didn't see it last time and I don't know how it got here. It looks like it was placed here on purpose, maybe by divers. Up in the shallows, there were lots of giant nudibranchs and young rockfish.
