This time (April 25, 2009), I swam out from a small bay next to Saxe Point Park. The swim was just over 200 meters. I wanted to avoid the boat traffic around the Esquimalt Angler's boat launch area since it was a sunny day on a weekend. Visibility was about 10-15 feet. Almost everything was completely covered with kelp. There were a few small areas along the walls with some bare patches where I could see through to the rock. The kelp was impressive and it's only starting to grow. In summer it must be impossible to swim through.
