I don't know why this place is called "Gab Gab". It's a beach in Apra Harbour with washrooms, fresh water showers, picnic tables and parking close to the water. It's part of the U.S. navy base on Guam so it's inaccessible as a shore dive for people who don't have access to the base. It's a popular boat dive for boat charters. We had access to the base so we dove it from shore. The sun was about to set as we entered the water. We swam out on the surface over a shallow flat bottom covered with hard coral. A turtle saw us and swam away faster than I've ever seen a turtle swim. The bottom dropped down in a wall of plate-like hard corals to a sandy bottom at about 90 feet deep. Visibility was about 50' and the water temperature was 28 degrees. There weren't tons of fish, and most of the ones that were there were lost in the fisheye-lens photos. We only had one light between us and it decided to fail. The sun had gone down and it was getting dark. We swam back up through the shallows towards shore. There were frequent green flashes of light around us from some kind of phosphorescent plankton.
