These photos are from Jan. 19, 2014. I wanted to take some photos of the rudders/steering gear at the stern of the barge. I never paid much attention to the pile of wreckage at the stern (back) of the wreck. I always just saw it as random chunks of metal. Since I noticed that there were 2 rudder assemblies in this pile (a few dives ago), I've been more interested in this area. I've never heard of barges having two moveable rudders. Today visibility was decent (around 30 feet), but it was an overcast winter day so it was darker than I would have liked for underwater photos. I ended up letting my strobe provide most of the light or using very slow shutter speeds (1/15 sec.) to let in more natural light. There was a big dive group here as well from a local dive shop so I was even able to have some random divers in the photos. One thing I've noticed is that there seems to be less marine life every time I dive here. I remember this place having swarms of rockfish and the biggest schools of perch I've ever seen. There were more plumose anemones before too, but as the wood rots away, there's less solid structure for them to attach to.
