I came back to China Creek on July 28, 2013. It would be possible to dive here on a day-trip from Victoria, but it would be a long day, so I stayed the night in the campground. The top 10 feet or so was mostly fresh water and the visibility was less than 10 feet. Below 20 feet deep however, the visibility was a very nice 40-50'. I swam down from campsite #44 (where I was staying) to about 70 feet deep, then turned right, running into the wreck after about 5 minutes. It still seems pretty bare although there are a few boot sponges that I didn't see years ago. There's also a cloud sponge on what's left of the mast. I spent so much time setting up for long-exposure photos of the wreck, that I still didn't have time or air to go under the bow or have a look inside the wreck (probably not a good idea anyway, considering the fragile rustiness of the hull). I took some photos of a lion's mane jellyfish near the wreck and was stung across the face and lips as usual. The burning usually goes away after a couple of minutes for me, but this time I kept feeling it throughout the dive. I later noticed that some tentacles had caught on my camera housing and they were flowing back and stinging my face as I swam along. I saw a small ratfish 35 feet deep as I swam back to shore.
