Today (Jun. 12, 2010) had the lowest tide I've ever seen at the breakwater. The water also looked pretty murky from the surface. I walked out to the end and visibility was about 10 feet and the current was almost too strong to swim against. I just sailed along with the flow and grabbed a photo here and there. I saw a bit of wolf eel tail in one of the second corner dens. Visibility seemed to improve a bit around flags 3-4 (maybe 15'), where I saw an octopus out in the open. I surfaced with the Air Force snowbirds roaring above me and thousands of people lining the waterfront to watch the Navy fleet review. Between the sightseers and the crowds of divers, this is probably the busiest I've ever seen it at Ogden Point.
These are from June 20, 2010. Visibility was about 20 feet at the end of the breakwater. I swam through a huge school of yellowtail and some other kind of rockfish (maybe widow?). I saw a wolfeel, and octopus in it's den, lots of tiger rockfish and a few juvenile yelloweye rockfish. A bit of condensation fogged up part of my camera's dome port, so that's why some of the photos look cloudy in the upper-right side.
