I came here on a dive charter on Nov. 28, 2021. I'm still not convinced that the quality of this spot is worth visiting by dive charter boats, but I guess it's a decent enough dive to be enjoyable if the visibility is ok. Today, the surface was tea-tinted and brackish from Cowichan River runoff, but below 10' deep, it cleared to maybe 30' of visibility. Since it was later in the afternoon, it was a bit dark underwater at my maximum depth of 75' or so. We swam out along the West side of the rock. As you can see from the sidescan image this whole area around Wain Rock is a maze of rocky reefs separated by sandy areas and it is difficult to navigate. We had a live boat so we didn't have to worry about finding our way back to where we started.
