The reason we booked this hotel was for the snorkeling right off the property. It was recommended as having probably the best snorkeling-from-shore in Cozumel. There is a possibly-public access path a bit South of Villa Aldora, but we never walked down it so I don't know how reasonable it is to get in the water from there. We spent probably an hour or two every day in the water here and saw a huge variety of marine life. We saw a few species of moray eels, rays, a turtle, scorpion fish, trumpet fish, puffers, different kinds of angel fish, lobsters and all the other kinds of tropical fish that I don't know the names of. Visibility was probably 100' the whole time and the depth at the base of the wall was 10'. We occasionally felt some current in the area South of Villa Aldora, but for some reason we didn't feel any in the area between the Villa and the harbour to the North.
The snorkeling here was great, but I think the best part was being able to step out of your room and walk a few steps down into the water and not have to worry about where you are going to park or where you're going to leave your stuff on the beach. If we come back to Cozumel, we're definitely going to stay here again.
