Last time we were on the Big Island (2022), we came snorkeling here several times. This time, we came snorkeling here almost every day (sometimes twice a day). It seems to be scorned as a crowded tourist destination for people who wear full-face snorkel masks and pool noodles (we started calling it "Shit-Show Beach"), but it's protected from most waves by a rubble breakwater and it's only a few feet deep, so you can see all the marine life up close without diving down. I saw lots of moray eels, octopus and turtles, which I didn't see at other sites. Last time, we parked in the beach parking lot, but now it's pay parking and you need some kind of portable telephone application (software) to pay so we just parked up on the road.
